EPIC ROAD TRIPS

New York State

I’ve driven from New York State to Key West, Florida.

I spent nights sleeping on the sand on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Exploring the Outer Banks.

Driving Skyline Drive.

The Blue Ridge Parkway.

Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Edisto Island.

The Florida Keys.

Some of the Great Lakes, including Huron, Michigan, Erie, and Ontario.

Niagara Falls.

Presque Isle in Erie, PA.

Several trips to Chicago.

And, from ’21 to ’24, Paulie’s Push, as the official media support vehicle four years in a row.

More than 35+ nights spent under the stars in my little climate-controlled sleeping pod.

Sixteen different campgrounds: everything from privately-owned to municipal and state parks and federal lands.

With plans to continue my journey west.

In sharing my roadtrips with folks on the internet, I have gotten one question more than any other: what is upstate New York like?

It seems many Tesla roadtrippers passing through my region on the New York State Thruway have wondered if there is a good reason to take an exit and explore upstate New York a little bit.

I've tried to explain what this area has to offer: beautiful scenery… crystal-clear lakes… the New York State Barge Canal… campgrounds galore of every type… and so much more.

Finally, I decided it was time to try to show people.

So, with the introduction of Red Rocket, my second Tesla Model 3, and some time to kill during summer ‘25, I will be exploring upstate New York and documenting as much as possible on my website and social media channels.

I will visit the waterfalls of New York State.

I'll take a scenic drive along NY-5, the alternative to the New York State Thruway between Buffalo and Albany.

I’ll visit the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, driving along the edges of Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence River.

I'll visit places where history happened, I'll take in some of the most majestic scenery this country has to offer, and I'll even go camping a bit.

And I’ll do it all from the driver’s seat of my Tesla Model 3.

My hope is that, the next time you are driving your Tesla from the Canadian border to points south, or between Niagara Falls and New York City, you'll consider stopping in the Finger Lakes, or in some other portions of upstate New York, instead of just passing us by on the interstate.
